Lisa Cameron MP

MP for East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow

Public life is not for the faint-hearted, and politics, at times, can be loud and chaotic. Therefore, as a Christian, faith for me is a source of strength and serenity above the noise.

I am proud to celebrate Interfaith week and champion connection and community across Parliament and the country. My religious colleagues are some of the most resilient people I know, as many who have faith have suffered online abuse and trolling, including myself and my staff.

Faith has thus been unifying cross party, enabling me to connect with Christians in Parliament and provide a sense of comfort during the highs and lows of Parliament!

Parliament has provided us with many opportunities, but the thing I enjoy most is being able to help and meet with so many of my constituents, whether that be a visit with local churches, engaging with the National Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast or dealing with local people’s problems as serving others is truly at the heart of my faith.
