Digital Democracy student forum workshop

30 April 2014

Findings from the Speaker’s Commission on Digital Democracy student forums will be presented and discussed at Hull University on Friday 16 May from 4.00-5.00pm

As one of the Speaker’s Commissioners, Cristina Leston-Bandeira coordinated a national online forum with student representatives from eight Universities to discuss the challenges of digital democracy. The discussions of the online forum were led by the students themselves, who have also produced reports identifying key challenges and possible solutions for each of the Commission’s five themes (legislation; scrutiny; representation; engagement and dialogue between citizens).

The students' findings will be presented at a workshop hosted by Cristina at Hull University on Friday 16 May 2014. Feedback will be invited from the audience and fed into the work of the Speaker’s Commission. The workshop will be led by the three students who represented Hull in the Forum and Cristina.

Students, including any interested local school pupils are welcome to attend. Please see the Hull University website for further information.

The eight universities who took part were: Cardiff University, Demontfort University, University of Hull, University of Leeds, University of Nottingham, University of Strathclyde, University of Surrey and the University of Ulster.
