Welsh Affairs Committee

The Committee is to conduct a follow up inquiry to the Transport in Wales Report, published on Tuesday 14 January (Second Report, 2002-03, HC 205), and the Government’s response, published on 2 April 2003 (Second Special Report, 2002-03, HC 580).

The inquiry will concentrate on the provision of services with in Wales and between Wales and England; investment in the infrastructure in Wales; the allocation of powers between the National Assembly for Wales and the UK Government; and the process for the award of the new Wales and Borders franchise.

Timetable for the inquiry

Interested parties are invited to make written submissions to the inquiry by Friday 5 September 2003.  Evidence should be sent to the Clerk of the Welsh Affairs Committee at the address above.  If possible, please supply an electronic version in MS Word or Rich Text format, either by e-mail to WelshCom@Parliament.uk or on a disk.  A hard copy of the submission should also be sent to the address above.  Further guidance on the submission of evidence can be found at www.parliament.uk/commons/selcom/witguide.htm.

A programme of oral evidence will be announced shortly.
