Background to inquiry
On 8 August the Treasury Committee announced a new inquiry; Women in the City. The Committee took evidence on the role of women in the City.
Topics within the inquiry included:
- the proportion of women occupying senior positions in major financial institutions and the extent of glass ceilings to promotion;
- pay inequalities;
- the prevalence of flexible working practices;
- the extent to which the culture of the City is sexist, and the prevalence of sexual harassment and exploitation.
