Public evidence session

The House of Commons Modernisation Committee will hold a public evidence session in connection with its follow-up inquiry  into Connecting Parliament with the Public as follows:

Wednesday 8 February at 9.35 a.m.  Witness: Lord Puttnam, CBE, Chair, Hansard Society Commission on Parliament in the Public Eye.

This session will pay particular attention to the Report of the Puttnam Commission, Members Only?  Parliament in the Public Eye, as well as to the implementation of the recommendations in the Committee's own Report on Connecting Parliament with the Public, published in June 2004.   Since then, two follow-up Reports have been published: from the House of Commons Commission (First Special Report from the Committee, Session 2004-05 (HC69)), and from the House of Commons Board of Management    All these documents are available on these pages.

The meeting will take place in the Thatcher Room, Portcullis House.  As Committee Rooms are liable to change, those attending are advised to check the room location on arrival.  The Committee Office recorded information line (020 7219 2033) provides details of select and standing committee meetings being held within the next two days.  Guidance for those wishing to attend select committee meetings held in public can be found at:
