Scottish Affairs Committee visit to South Lanarkshire Credit Union Network

The Scottish Affairs Committee will visit South Lanarkshire Credit Union Network (SLCUN) in Blantyre on Monday 20 October 2008 as part of its inquiry into Credit Unions in Scotland.

The Committee is following up its work on poverty with an examination of Government support for credit unions and the problem of financial exclusion in Scotland.

South Lanarkshire Credit Union Network (SLCUN) was established to advance education (in particular for the young and unemployed), to increase public knowledge of credit unions, to encourage training and to develop innovative projects which benefit the community. 

SLCUN currently has 16,413 adult and 2,980 junior saver members.
