Session 2006-07 4 December 2006 POVERTY IN SCOTLAND:



On Monday 11 December, the Scottish Affairs Committee will begin its inquiry into Poverty in Scotland by making a series of informal visits to rural communities in Balintore, Bonar Bridge and in Merkinch to meet representatives from local organisations to see at first hand the difficulties they experience.

On Tuesday 12 December, the Committee will follow up these informal meetings with a public evidence session in the Highland Council Headquarters in Inverness. Evidence will be taken from:

(at 10.00am) Mr Cameron Stark, Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer, Centre for Rural Health, Ms Pamela Urquhart, Development Officer, H&I Skills and Lifelong Learning Team, STUC and Mr Willie Roe, Chairman, Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

(at 11.15am) Councillor Alison Magee, Convenor, The Highland Council, Ms Philomena de Lima, Development Officer, UHI Policy Web and Ms Carol Greer, Citizens Advice Scotland
