1. Declaration of Interests

Dr Nick Palmer declared his interests in accordance with the Resolution of the House of 13 July 1992, as follows:

Overseas visits
30 September-3 October 2007, to Cyprus, for study visit with Friends of Cyprus delegation. Accommodation costs, use of car and driver provided by the Republic of Cyprus House of Representatives. (Return flights to Cyprus paid for out of House of Commons European travel allowance.) (Registered 17 October 2007)

Mr Sharma also declared a visit to India funded by the Indian Government.

2. Towards Effective Sentencing Inquiry

Resolved, That the Committee take oral evidence from Lord Carter of Coles

Resolved, That the Committee take further oral evidence from the Ministry of Justice

3. Devolution: a decade on inquiry

Julie Morgan declared a non-pecuniary interest in relation to the Committee's inquiry into Devolution: a decade on, as the wife of the First Minister of the Welsh Assembly Government.

Professor John Curtice, Professor Charlie Jeffery and Professor Robert Hazell gave oral evidence.
