Sentencing Guidelines

The Committee will hold a one-off evidence session as part of the Committee's ongoing scrutiny of sentencing guidelines. The first part of the session will look at the concept of a structured sentencing framework following Lord Carter's Review of Prisons. The second part of the session will focus on the Consultation Guidelines: Revised Magistrates' Court Sentencing Guidelines.

Details of the oral evidence session are as follows:

Tuesday 22 January in The Grimond Room, Portcullis House

At 4.15pm: Nicola Padfield, Faculty of Law, Cambridge University;

At 4.45pm: Sir Igor Judge, President of the Queen's Bench Division and Head of Criminal Justice

At 5.10pm: Cindy Barnett, Chairman, Magistrates' Association; Tan Ikram, President, London Criminal Courts Solicitors' Association; Greg Powell, Immediate Past President, London Criminal Courts Solicitors' Association
