Joint Committee on Human Rights

Current inquiries - submitting evidence

During an inquiry, the Committee takes written evidence from interested parties and usually follows this up by taking oral evidence from a selection of those who have submitted written evidence.

Guidance on how to make a written submission to the Committee is given in the Guide for Witnesses. The press notice announcing each inquiry gives details of the terms of reference for that inquiry, and sets a deadline for submissions. The Committee may nonetheless be able to take account of material received after that date.

At the completion of an inquiry the Committee normally publishes its report together with all the oral evidence and most, if not all, of the unpublished written evidence it has received. Transcripts and Reports can be found on the Reports and Publications page and via the relevant inquiry pages.

Some Committee oral evidence sessions are also televised or broadcast on the web and can be accessed from website.
