In its 2007 Report on DFID assistance to Burmese internally displaced people and refugees on the Thai-Burma border, the International Development Committee undertook to come back to the issue within a year. The situation in Burma has changed significantly in the months since the publication of the Report. Cyclone Nargis has devastated parts of the country, affecting the lives of some 2.4 million people and killing many thousands. This one-off evidence session will follow up on recommendations in the Committee’s 2007 Report and look at the impact of Cyclone Nargis and DFID’s response to it.
