One-off Evidence Session Announced

Policy Coherence for Development and the Commission for Africa

The Prime Minister launched the Commission for Africa in February 2004. The Commission aims to provide a coherent set of policies to accelerate progress towards a strong and prosperous Africa, and will produce a report and recommendations in spring 2005. As part of the consultation process, views and observations have been invited. The Committee intends making a submission to the Commission, in the form of a Committee report.  As part of the Committee’s work on this issue, we are pleased to announce that the following one-off evidence session has been arranged:

Date and venue: Tuesday 12 October, Grimond Room, Portcullis House

Time: 2.30 p.m.

Witness: Mr Myles Wickstead, Head of Secretariat, Commission for Africa

and at approx. 3.15 p.m.

Witness: Mr Robert Picciotto, Visiting Professor at King's College, London and former Director General, Operations Evaluation, World Bank (an expert on Policy Coherence for Development)

The oral evidence will be published in due course alongside the Committee’s submission to the Committee.
