The Home Affairs Committee will hold the second evidence session of the Committee's inquiry into Knife Crime on Tuesday 13 January 2009.

The Rt Hon Keith Vaz MP, Chairman of the Home Affairs Committee made the following statement:

"In this session, we will explore how police operations, enforcement and penalties fit into broader strategies for tackling knife crime."

"In light of the recent dispute over knife statistics, we are particularly keen to ask the police officers leading action in this area about the impact of strategies to target knife crime hotspots and if knife offences really have reduced as a result."
