Oral Evidence Session

Oral Evidence Session

The Home Affairs Committee will hold a one off evidence session on Immigration Issues on Thursday 20 November 2008.

At 10.30am

  • Phil Woolas MP, Minister of State for Borders and Immigration, Home Office
  • Lin Homer, Chief Executive, UK Border Agency

Location: Grimond Room, Portcullis House

Keith Vaz MP, Chairman of the Committee said:

“Immigration issues are utmost in the public mind at the moment with wide debate on issues such as a cap on immigration and the new points-based immigration system. The Committee is keen to examine the Minister on these issues as well as the Government’s failure as yet to publish the full Immigration and Citizenship Bill due to come through the Commons in the next session, and the worrying backlog of casework at the UK Border Agency.”

The session will be open to the public on a first come, first served basis. There is no system for the prior reservation of seats in Committee Rooms. It is advisable to allow about 20 minutes to pass through security checks. Committee room and timing are subject to change.
