Committee Announces New Inquiry
Active diplomacy for a changing world - the UK’s International Priorities
The Foreign Affairs Committee is to carry out ongoing scrutiny of the FCO’s new foreign policy strategy, “Active diplomacy for a changing world - the UK’s International Priorities”. The strategy considers likely developments in international relations over the next ten years and the role of the UK on the world stage. It identifies the Government’s strategic international priorities and describes the FCO’s role in pursuing them.
The Committee intends to ensure that the strategy is considered as part of its ongoing programme of work and that it is referred to in the Reports of the various inquiries it has under way. In addition, the Committee will undertake a long-term review of the strategy, assessing its contribution to the conduct of British foreign policy and its continuing relevance to a constantly changing international situation.
