The European Scrutiny Committee will be holding two public evidence sessions.
On Wednesday 1 July at 3.30pm in Committee Room 19, Palace of Westminster, it will question Lord Bach about the recent scrutiny performance of the Ministry of Justice, and in particular the absence of an opportunity for effective scrutiny of the recent Directive on ship source pollution.
On Thursday 2 July at 10.30am in Committee Room 8, Palace of Westminster, it will take evidence from the Foreign Secretary, Rt Hon David Miliband MP, about the Government's approach to the timing of and preconditions for Croatian accession to the European Union. The Foreign Secretary will also be asked about the attempt at the recent European Council meeting to provide "legal guarantees" to meet Irish concerns in advance of Ireland's second referendum on the Treaty of Lisbon.
