The English pig industry: Government response to the Committee's First Report of Session 2008-09
The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee has received a response from the Government to its First Report of Session 2008-09,
The English pig industry, which was published on 13 January as HC 96. The Government’s response is published today at 11.00am as a Special Report (HC 391).
The Committee is pleased that the Response accepts the Committee’s conclusion that the Government has a role to play in facilitating discussion within the pig supply chain and that the Government has responded to the Committee’s suggestion that England has its own pig sector task force with the creation of Defra’s Pig Meat Supply Chain Task Force which has been set up to identify the biggest challenges faced by the industry and suggest solutions.

It will be sent by post to all witnesses or, if preferred, may be collected on publication either by witnesses or by their representatives between 11.00am and 11.30am on Thursday 2 April, from Westminster House, 7 Millbank, London.
Copies of the Special Report may be obtained, on publication, from the usual outlets, including The Parliamentary Bookshop and The Stationery Office.
The Special Report will be posted on the Parliamentary internet on publication, and will be accessible via the Committee’s homepage.
