[ Please note: Parliament was dissolved on Monday 11 April, so there are currently no select committees. The information on these pages refers to committees and their work before Parliament was dissolved. New select committees will be set up some weeks after the return of Parliament following the general election on 5 May.]
The House of Commons Education and Employment Select Committee shadowed the work of the Department for Education and Employment from 1995 to 2001.
Follow the links on the right menu to view the committee's archived reports, other publications and press notices from 1997 onwards.
The Education and Skills Committee was established in 2001 to examine the expenditure, administration and policy of the Department for Education and Skills and its associated public bodies.
The Work and Pensions Committee carries out the same duties in respect of the Department for Work and Pensions, which combines most of the former Department of Social Security with most of the employment functions of the former Department for Education and Employment. Please contact the Education and Skills Committee ( firstname.lastname@example.org) or the Work and Pensions Committee ( email@example.com) for further information.
