Defence Committee

Session 2002-03, 6 March 2003

Press Notice No. 13

In July 2002 the Defence Committee published its report into Defence and Security in the UK.   This report examined what had been done across Government and beyond since 11 September 2001 to strengthen the UK's capacity to respond to the threat of a major terrorist attack.  The Government responded to the report in October 2002.

The Committee has decided to review some of the issues raised in that report and to examine what progress has been made since its publication and the Government's reply.  It has therefore arranged the following evidence session:

Tuesday 18 March 2003

3pm:Sir David Omand KCB, Security and Intelligence Co-ordinator, and Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office and Ms Susan Scholefield CMG, Head, Civil Contingencies Secretariat, Cabinet Office.

Further evidence sessions will be announced in due course.
