A STATEMENT FROM EDWARD LEIGH MP
CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMITTEE OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTS
National Audit Office report: Preparations for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games - Risk assessment and management
Staging the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London is something to be extremely proud about, but with it comes huge responsibility. This first look by the NAO shows how worrying it is that there is still no final budget for the Games - especially as we reach almost a quarter of the way through the preparation time for the Games. It is absolutely crucial, not just for the success of the Olympics, but also in securing a lasting legacy for the future, that this is dealt with as a matter of urgency.
The clock is ticking and the deadline is immovable. In 2012, the eyes of the whole world will be on London. The capital needs to deliver a gold medal performance.
