Oral Evidence Session

The Committee will be hearing oral evidence on Tuesday 21st October at 10.20am from Anthony Mayer, Chair, and Peter Marsh, Chief Executive-designate, Tenant Services Authority

The creation of the Office for Tenants and Social Landlords-now to be known as the Tenant Services Authority- was announced by the Government on 15 October 2007. It followed Professor Martin Cave's review of social housing regulation in England (Every Tenant Matters: A review of social housing regulation, Professor Martin Cave, June 2007) and the subsequent Government consultation Delivering Housing and Regeneration: Communities England and the future of social housing regulation (June 2007).

The new body will take on the regulatory functions of the Housing Corporation - "provide advice and support to housing associations to help them provide the best and most cost-efficient services, and assess their performance against agreed standards" - while the investment functions will be transferred to the new Homes and Communities Agency.

The purpose of the session is for the Committee to discuss with Mr Mayer and Mr Marsh their plans for the Agency. The Committee is not seeking, and will not be publishing, formal written submissions from third parties in connection with this session

The evidence session will take place in public, unless otherwise decided by the Committee, in a Committee Room at the House of Commons. All members of the public entering the Palace of Westminster are subject to security search, so please allow time for this.
