The evidence session will take place in public, unless otherwise decided by the Committee, in a Committee Room at the House of Commons.

This inquiry follows the publication of the Lyons report, Place-shaping: a shared ambition for the future of local government, which included an examination of options for reform of council tax benefit. Details of his inquiry and the final report can be found at:

The Committee announced its inquiry and issued a public call for evidence on 8 May 2007. The evidence session on 18 June is the first to be held on this inquiry.  Further sessions are not expected.
