Chris White MP has been elected as Chair of the Committees on Arms Export Controls of the House of Commons at its first meeting since forming this Parliament. The MP for Warwick and Leamington has been a member of the Committees since 2010 and is also a current member of the Business, Innovation and Skills Committee.
The four House of Commons Select Committees that comprise the Committees on Arms Export Controls (CAEC) are: the Business, Innovation and Skills Committee, the Defence Committee, the Foreign Affairs Committee and the International Development Committee and was first formed in 1999. It’s remit is to examine the Government's expenditure, administration and policy on strategic exports, specifically the licensing of arms exports and other controlled goods.
Chairman Chris White MP said:
"I am delighted to have been elected as chairman of the Committees on Arms Export Controls. We provide important scrutiny of arms exports policy and practice in the United Kingdom and I look forward to working with my colleagues on the committee in carrying out this important role."
