Investment Protection Agreement between the EU and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

On 22 November 2018, the EU External Affairs Sub-Committee considered the Council Decision on the conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement between the European Union and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The Committee decided to retain the Council Decision under scrutiny and wrote a letter to George Hollingbery MP, Minister of State for Trade Policy, asking him to confirm the following:

  • Whether the UK-Vietnam BIT will be suspended if the Investment Protection Agreement is provisionally applied or ratified after the UK has exited the EU, but before the end of the transition period.
