Horsemeat in food for human consumption: statement

27 February 2013

The Welsh Affairs Committee yesterday discussed the contamination of horsemeat in beef products supplied by a company in Wales. Chair of the Committee, David Davies MP, said:

"The Welsh Affairs Committee is concerned that horsemeat was found in beef products produced by a supplier in Wales.

“The Food Standards Agency and police are leading an investigation into this serious matter and the Committee does not want to jeopardise those investigations. We will pay close attention to how the situation develops. The Committee stands ready to conduct its own investigation if necessary”.
