Treasury Committee publishes documents relating to RBS’ Global Restructuring Group

Rt Hon. Nicky Morgan MP, Chair of the Treasury Committee, wrote to Ross McEwan, Chief Executive of RBS, on 20 December 2017 (PDF PDF 341 KB) to request the following documents:

  • A memorandum written in December 2008, when RBS’ Global Restructuring Group was established, describing its role and intended objectives.
  • A memorandum entitled ‘Just Hit Budget!’, written in 2009. The redactions in this document refer to names of RBS business customers and RBS staff. The document has been annotated to explain these redactions.

Mr McEwan responded on 9 January. This letter and the two memoranda are here (PDF PDF 743 KB).

Backbench Business debate

On Thursday 18 January, there will be a backbench business debate in the House of Commons on a motion on the treatment of SMEs by RBS Global Restructuring Group, which was sponsored by Clive Lewis MP.

Evidence session

On Tuesday 30 January, The Treasury Committee will be holding an evidence session on RBS' GRG and its treatment of SME’s:

  • Panel 1 – Tony Boorman (Managing Director, Promontory)
  • Panel 2 – Ross McEwan (Chief Executive, RBS) and Sir Howard Davies (Chairman, RBS)
