Secretary of State questioned on Intercity East Coast rail franchise

The Transport Committee hears from Chris Grayling MP as part of its inquiry into the Intercity East Coast rail franchise.

Purpose of the session

The purpose of this session is to scrutinise the Secretary of State on his decision making and handling of the now terminated Intercity East Coast franchise run by Stagecoach and Virgin Trains.

The Committee will press the Secretary of State on the future prospects for this franchise, given that operations have transferred to the Operator of Last Resort and the franchise will be run as the East Coast Partnership from 2020.
