The Transport Committee questions the Department for Transport (DfT) Minister, Andrew Jones MP, in the final evidence session of its inquiry into urban congestion.

Purpose of the session

The session considers:

  • the extent to which the DfT understands the problem of urban congestion and helps local transport authorities to tackle it
  • the effectiveness of current local governance structures and funding streams, including the balance between funding for roads and public/active transport
  • the effectiveness of a range of DfT guidance and legislation
  • the DfT's role in planning for the future, including the potential effects of connected and automated vehicles
