The Chair of the Science and Technology Select Committee, Norman Lamb MP, has commented on today’s report on Huawei issued by the National Cyber Security Centre.
Rt Hon Norman Lamb MP, Chair of the Science and Technology Committee, said:
“Today’s concerning report reveals an unacceptably slow response from Huawei in the face of important criticism of the company’s approach to cyber security.
“These concerns make the Government’s review of telecommunications suppliers all the more important, and urgent, and I call upon the Government to publish its full report as soon as possible. It is imperative and remains vital for our national interest that we get some cohesive answers on this extremely worrying issue.
“I will be discussing with Committee colleagues the next steps for us to take. I envisage that the Committee will want to convene an evidence session calling the company and ministers to give evidence. I maintain the view that policy in this area must be robust but proportionate, and evidence-based.”
