This will be the Committee's only evidence session of a short Inquiry into the role of the Independent Adviser on Ministerial Interests

The Committee will take evidence first from Sir Philip Mawer, who held this role between January 2008 and October 2011, about his time in post, and then from his successor, Sir Alex Allan, on his priorities for the role. This session will take place on Tuesday 31 January 2012 in Committee Room 15.

At 10.30am

  • Sir Philip Mawer

At 11:30am

  • Sir Alex Allan

Particular issues to be explored may include:

  • The remit of the Independent Adviser on Ministerial Interests;
  • whether the Independent Adviser should have the power to instigate investigations into alleged breaches of the Ministerial Code; and
  • the recruitment process for the role of Independent Adviser.
