Cabinet Office not providing full information on voter ID inquiry

19 November 2018

The Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee held an evidence session with Chloe Smith MP, the Minister for the Constitution, on 9 September 2018 on Electoral Intimidation and Voter ID.

Information withheld on Voter ID pilot scheme

During the session the Minister made a number of commitments to provide further factual information to the Committee, particularly around the budget and value for money of the Voter ID pilot. The Committee is publishing the further evidence it has received from the Cabinet Office today, 19 November. The Chair of PACAC, Sir Bernard Jenkin, has written to the Minister in response expressing the Committee’s surprise that the Cabinet Office has chosen to withhold some of the information she committed to provide at the meeting.
