Role of private foundations in international development explored

On Tuesday 25 October 2011 the Committee will hold its first Evidence Session on Private Foundations in Committee Room 5, Palace of Westminster at 10.30am 



At 10.30am:

  • Sarah Lock, Africa Programme Head, Nuffield Foundation
  • David McNair, Principal Economic Justice Adviser, Christian Aid

At 11.30am:

  • Sir Ian Wood, Chairman, The Wood Family Trust
  • Peter McDermott, Managing Director, Children's Investment Fund Foundation

This is the first evidence session for the Private Foundations inquiry. The first panel provides the opportunity for a general discussion of the role of foundations in international development, including the implications of their growing engagement in the sector. The second panel features two UK-based foundations of differing size, and will be a chance to explore how the organisations work and their relationships with DFID and multilateral organisations.
