International Development Committee takes final evidence of development finance inquiry and investigates the UK decision to end bilateral aid to South Africa.

Purpose of the Session

This is the fourth and final evidence session in the Committee’s inquiry on Development Finance. The Secretary of State will be invited to discuss DFID’s views on the future role of aid in the context of the changing development world; the pros and cons of providing concessional loans; whether the UK should establish a development bank; the role of the private sector in development; and the balance of DFID’s bilateral and multilateral spending. 

In addition, the Secretary of State will be asked about the decision to end bilateral aid to South Africa.
