Panel 2 – Housing Minister

Purpose of the session

The Minister is likely to be questioned on the Government’s response to the Independent Review, the consultation on banning combustible cladding on high-rise buildings and fire safety testing regimes.

The Committee will also question a panel representing building owners and insurers, following on from the session on 27 June which heard from construction industry representatives, fire safety experts and product testers.

The Committee is examining the immediate and longer-term changes needed to improve the safety of residential tower blocks, and how improvements can be applied more widely in the construction industry.

Following the session on 27 June, the Committee has raised immediate safety concerns with the Government after hearing suggestions that some buildings have been left in an unsafe condition following the removal of combustible cladding.
