The Committee launched an inquiry into Serious violence following the publication of the Government’s Serious Violence Strategy in April 2018. The Committee assessed the effectiveness of the approach in combatting knife crime, gun crime and homicide.
Evidence given by Professor Fiona Measham, Professor of Criminology, University of Durham, Steve Rodhouse, Director General (Operations), NCA, Harry Shapiro, Director, Drugwise, and Dr Michael Shiner, Associate Professor, Department of Social Policy, London School of Economics; Cressida Dick CBE QPM, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service, and Dave Thompson QPM, Chief Constable of West Midlands Police (at 11.00am).
