Committee to question Secretary of State on Brexit next steps

02 April 2019

The Committee on Exiting the European Union returns with an evidence session on Wednesday 3 April, as part of its over-arching inquiry examining the progress of the UK’s negotiations on EU withdrawal.

Purpose of the session

In this session, the Committee will hear from the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, Stephen Barclay MP. Following Friday’s Government defeat and Monday’s second round of indicative votes in the Commons, the Committee will consider recent developments and the possible next steps in the Brexit process.

The Committee is expected to focus on how the Government intends to find a way forward ahead of the European Council on 10 April. The Committee will also question the Secretary of State on the legislative timetable for the UK’s departure, as well as the possibility of the UK leaving without a deal on 12 April.
