Local authorities questioned on rural tourism in England

The Environment Food and Rural Affairs Committee holds the third oral evidence session for its Rural tourism in England inquiry. Representatives of local authorities are invited to discuss the role of tourism in supporting economic growth in English countryside and rural coastal areas.

Purpose of the session

Key issues include how to:

  • market and promote rural places
  • ensure adequate access and infrastructure; and
  • use planning to balance economic, social and environmental aspects of tourism
