Farmgate prices impact on agricultural industry explored

The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee holds its first oral evidence session on how falling prices paid for agricultural products are leading to an uncertain future for many farmers.

Background

The Committee hears from the National Farmers Union, the National Sheep Association and the National Pig Association to discuss issues such as the impact current farmgate prices are having on the agricultural industry, the steps farmers are taking to mitigate adverse effects and the role that Government has to play in supporting farmers.
