Information Commissioner questioned on fake news

The Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee holds its sixth public session as part of its inquiry into fake news.

Fake news

The Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee continue their inquiry into fake news and disinformation, taking evidence from Bill Browder, CEO of Hermitage Capitol Management, and Edward Lucas, Senior Vice President, the Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA.) Topics likely to be covered include their views on big data and Russia's place in the discussions around disinformation.

Elizabeth Denham, the Information Commissioner, then appears before the Committee to discuss progress on the ICO's current investigation into the use of data for political purposes, and the way in which personal data is collected, used and shared through social media and other methods.
