Tuesday 15 May 2018, Grimond Room, Portcullis House

At 10.30 am

  • Claire Bassett, Chief Executive
  • Bob Posner, Director of Political Finance and Regulation and Legal Counsel
  • Louise Edwards, Head of Regulations, Electoral Commission

Focus of the session

The Committee uses the opportunity to ask the Electoral Commission about its recently concluded investigation into Leave.EU, ahead of questioning Arron Banks and Andy Wigmore from Leave.EU on Tuesday 12th June 2018. MPs are also likely to ask the elections regulator about whether its powers are sufficient for the digital era.

As the Electoral Commission continues its investigation into Vote Leave, the Committee has summoned its former campaign director, Dominic Cummings for the 22nd May 2018 to answer questions on allegations put to the official EU referendum campaign throughout the inquiry and evidence put to the Committee.

The Committee has also summoned Alexander Nix of Cambridge Analytica. There are inconsistencies between his previous testimony on 27th February 2018 and evidence received since.
