Committee to recall Lord Coe for further evidence after David Bedford session

10 January 2017

In light of evidence  from former Olympic athlete David Bedford OBE, the Committee has decided to recall Lord Coe. The questions centre on information sent by Mr Bedford to Lord Coe, now President of the International Association of Athletics Federations, warning him of concerns over alleged corruption in Russian athletics.

Chair's comment

Damian Collins MP, Chair of the Committee, said:

"David Bedford gave very measured evidence but it raised clear and important questions over the timing and extent of Lord Coe’s knowledge of these allegations, and what action he took about them, especially in light of the evidence he himself gave to us in December 2015.

He is now free of the obligations which he claimed were preventing him returning to the Committee before, there should be no reason he cannot find a time in his diary to attend the Committee by January 31st as we now request."
