Background

The Housing and Planning Bill was introduced on 13 October 2015. The Government has claimed that it represents a 'national crusade to get 1 million homes built by 2020' and 'transform generation rent into generation buy'.

Amongst the areas addressed in the Bill are reforms to the planning system and measures to promote home ownership such as Starter Homes and the Right to Buy for social housing tenants.
