The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee is holding an evidence session for its inquiry into the Government's Industrial Strategy and the impact of sector deals.
Government support for towns and cities
This evidence session looks at the role of ‘place’ in the Government’s Industrial Strategy and wider Government support for towns and cities, alongside local issues for sector deals and other business support. The Committee will be hearing from witnesses from the Centre for Cities and from the Centre for Towns.
In the remainder of the inquiry, the Committee will hear from witnesses including the off-shore wind sector and construction sector, before hearing from Ministers.
Focus of the inquiry
The Committee's Industrial Strategy inquiry has initially focussed on four sectors: off-shore wind, construction, retail, and hospitality. Over the course of the Parliament, the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee will examine the Government's Industrial Strategy and the effect it has on raising the UK's low productivity.
Wednesday 12 September, Committee Room 6, Palace of Westminster
- Andrew Carter, Chief Executive, Centre for Cities
- Professor Will Jennings, Centre for Towns.
