The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee is to hold a pre-appointment hearing with Andrew Tyrie, the Government’s preferred candidate for Chair of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
The session with the former MP and Chair of the Treasury Committee will focus on his experience and performance in previous roles and his views on markets and intervention.
Members are also likely to ask about the role of the CMA in protecting consumers and the accountability of the organisation.
Mr Tyrie's provisional appointment was announced on 11 April.
The Committee will produce a report following the session, before the Secretary of State makes a final decision on the appointment.
