Brexit and aerospace: business reaction to EU withdrawal agreement

28 November 2018

The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee hears from representatives from the aerospace sector, as it continues its series of evidence sessions on the reaction of business to the Brexit withdrawal agreement.

The session with Airbus UK, the Royal Aeronautical Society and ADS Group will examine how the sector sees the Prime Minister’s proposed deal and political declaration. The Committee will also ask about the potential consequences of ‘no deal’ on the aerospace industry.

A report from the Committee in March warned against any divergence from global standards in the industry and suggested continued membership of the European Aviation Safety Agency would give the sector the best chance of success post-Brexit.

The meeting will be followed by a similar session at 2.15pm with representatives from the pharmaceutical industry, as part of a series of meetings exploring the views of business on the Brexit withdrawal agreement. The Committee has published a series of reports examining the impact of Brexit on five sectors of the UK economy.
