My beloved, Ayoola Oyefuwa

Poem by Ayoola Oyefuwa, Year 8

My beloved husband,
once I've been soothed by the ocean's
rhythm, my soul will be with you.
Welcome me back, I will return to the land of the living
The words you whispered before they took your
Life was pure as gold
I'm breathless when you're near me, dizzy with emotions, held captive by your smile.
The fury, rage and resentment I once had has been stolen
By the waves
My black Atlantis, my black husband, my black home
I am coming welcome me back.
I am free the way God intended it to be.
