Agreement with Glamorganshire Canal Company (Page 1)
Richard Blakemore's dispute with the Glamorganshire Canal Company was long running. Five years after the evidence given to the Opposed Bill Committee the problem was still ongoing, as shown by this agreement , found by the group at Glamorgan Archives, between Richard Blakemore and the Glamorganshire Canal Company. The agreement limited the amount of water that the Canal Company could take from the River at the Pentyrch and Melingriffith Works to 15 tonnes a minute, in times of short water. In return, Richard Blakemore agreed not to object to any improvements to the Canal that the Company might make in the future, and was to be paid a rent charge of £1500 a year.
