Atlantic Star

This medal was instituted in May 1945 and awarded to forces who served in the Battle of the Atlantic.

The Battle of the Atlantic was the longest continuous military campaign of the Second World War, which centred round an Allied naval blockade of Germany which began on 3 September 1939 and continued until V-E Day, 8 May 1945.
