Transcriptions from Inspector Denning's Occurence Books
Police officers working in parliament used occurence books to record notable events and incidents on a daily basis. Inspector Eleazar Denning wrote detailed entries on a wide range of occurrences witnessed while on duty in the palace, from stolen umbrellas to dynamite explosions in Westminster Hall. These transcriptions of Denning's original entries provide a fascinating insight into parliamentary life through the eyes of a police inspector during the 1880s.
