Hubert Lister Parker, Baron Parker of Waddington (1900-1972)

The first life peer to be introduced in the Lords was Lord Parker of Waddington (pictured, centre, with his sponsors) on 21 October 1958.

He was the last of the 11 male life peers to be created that year and became Baron Parker when he was appointed Lord Chief Justice.

Parker was previously a senior judge in the High Court and then the Court of Appeal.
